About the artist


Chenyin Li is an internationally active pianist whose playing combines stylistic rigour, imagination and expressive intensity. She first came to wider recognition after winning the 6th Scottish International Piano Competition, and has since received major prizes at the Jaén, Dublin, Campillos and Dudley International Piano Competitions, as well as the European Beethoven Gold Medal. She has appeared at leading venues including Wigmore Hall, the Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall, and has performed as soloist with orchestras such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and China Symphony Orchestra. 

 

A prolific recording artist, she has contributed to nearly one hundred CDs as the exclusive pianist for Pianist magazine since 2011. The Daily Telegraph has praised her playing as “gritty, fiery and athletic”. Alongside her concert career, she teaches at the Junior Guildhall School and is Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing; her book Memorisation: The Essential Guide for Pianists was published in 2010.
